Granite Care & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning:

  • Avoid abrasive cleaners such as Comet and Softscrub
  • Avoid concentrated cleaners such as grout cleaners, tub & tile cleaners, etc.
  • Do not use granite cleaner that also seals the granite
  • All-purpose cleaners or dish soap will work to clean your countertops on a daily basis
  • Oil and acidic items that are spilled on the countertops should be cleaned up immediately (blot the spill in order to avoid it spreading to other areas of the stone)

Sealing your Granite:

  1. Make sure your surface is clean and dry
  2. Pour sealer onto a dry rage and wipe down your countertops so that there is a thin layer of sealer covering all of the surface (a spray bottle may also be used to apply the sealer)
  3. Wait 15-20 minutes for the sealer to soak into the stone
  4. Take a dry cloth and wipe the excess sealer from the surface
  5. Repeat steps 1-4
  6. Re-seal your granite in 10-15 Years

Guidelines for Stain/Adhered Material Removal:

  • Marble Institute of America (MIA) is the best source of information on granite and other natural stone products. We highly suggest using their website as a source for learning how to properly handle stains and other problems with your stone. Please use the link below to access MIA’s maintenance tips

Bella Stainless Steel Sinks

Bella stainless steel sinks are made from nickel-bearing stainless steel and will become lovelier with use and age. Bella sinks are solid stainless steel sinks containing no coating that can wear off. While Bella sinks offer a lifetime of use, they require a small amount of regular maintenance to retain their luxurious finish.

Rinsing is the most important part of the sink care. A Bella stainless steel sink will retain its original bright appearance if it is rinsed thoroughly after each use. Rinsing can be done by running water from the spray hose for a few minutes. After each use, a rinse and towel dry take care of most everyday clean-ups.

Once a week scour the sink with a mildly abrasive cleanser, rubbing back and forth in the direction of the polish or in a circular motion to remove stubborn stains and greasy film buildups. This will blend any scratches into the satin finish of the sink. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry and your sink will shine.

More from the manufacturer:

ALWAYS

  • Clean every day by rinsing with a mild soap and warm water, then wipe dry.
  • Keep the sink free of any standing water to avoid the buildup of mineral deposits, which can affect the appearance.
  • Remove stains by scrubbing in the direction of the grain with a mild abrasive such as SoftScrub™.
  • Rinse the sink after cleaning and wipe dry.
  • Clean mineral deposits that have built up over time with a mild solution of vinegar and water followed by a thorough rinsing.
  • Remove scratches with a Scotch-Brite pad and cleaning agent. Rub in the direction of the grain. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR MIRROR FINISH.

NEVER

  • Leave water spots, steel cookware, or utensils in the sink for lengthy periods; iron particles can cause rust spots to develop on the stainless steel surface.
  • Use a steel wool or scouring pad as it will damage the sink surface and cause discoloration.
  • Allow household cleaning agents or bleach to sit in your sink for long periods of time as this may ruin the finish of the sink.
  • Leave rubber mats, sponges, or cleaning pads in the sink overnight as this will trap water and could stain or discolor the sink surface.
  • Use any drain cleaning products containing sulfuric or hydrochloric acid as this will damage the sink.
  • Use silver cleaners which may contain acids that will damage the sink surface.
  • Use the inside of the sink as a cutting surface.
